How can I become a SUPERVALU supplier?

To participate in future bid opportunities:

  1. To be considered a diversity supplier you must be certified by a third-party certifying agency.
  2. Submit a supplier Application Form to register in SUPERVALU's supplier database.
  3. Meet SUPERVALU's supplier selection criteria and bid specification requirements.

What is SUPERVALU's supplier database?

SUPERVALU's supplier database is a primary resource tool used by Corporate Strategic Sourcing to identify qualified suppliers for participation in upcoming bids. Please note that completion of the supplier Application Form does not approve, qualify or guarantee business with SUPERVALU.

Do I have to be registered in SUPERVALU's supplier database to be considered for a bid opportunity?

No, but we prefer that you do register in our database because your company's capabilities and qualifications will be more easily accessible for sourcing opportunities.

I am not certified as a diversity business or I am self-certified. Can I still register in SUPERVALU's supplier database?

You may register in SUPERVALU's supplier database regardless of your classification. However, SUPERVALU does not accept self-certification; a third-party certifying agency must certify your company as a diversity business if you indicate certification.

What happens when I send my application?

An email will be sent to you confirming that SUPERVALU received your application. When a bid opportunity arises at the local, regional or national level that could match your company's product/service, you may be contacted about participating.

What does "certification" mean?

Certification means your company's day-to-day operations and ownership structure has been reviewed by a third-party certifying agency and is certified by them as a diverse business. Suppliers are responsible for acquiring and maintaining valid certification.

Once I submit a sample for evaluation, how long will it be until I receive your response?

All samples are forwarded to the appropriate department, where sourcing managers will complete their evaluation as promptly as possible. If you haven't heard back from us within 30 days of submission, contact the Supplier Diversity Director and/or Manager at supplierdiversity@supervalu.com.
